Moresby Hall is a 16th century Grade I listed building of “Special architectural and historical importance” – “One of the most important residences in Cumbria.” (English Heritage).

Although this is one of the oldest homes in Cumbria dating from 1620, it is now one of the newest venues for weddings, civil partnership, renewal of vows and naming ceremonies.

Jane and David Saxon own Moresby Hall and they want you to enjoy the rare ambience of this historic building for your special day. Their personal attention for your arrangements at the Hall will ensure a truly exclusive and memorable occasion.

This is a venue for smaller gatherings (currently for up to 30 guests). The emphasis is for bespoke and careful planning by the owners of the Hall and their staff to receive the best attention possible in an elegant Country House setting. Their skills at entertaining, hosting functions and determination to offer unobtrusive top quality service is what makes Moresby Hall such a unique place. This is not a hotel environment – we want you to feel that Moresby Hall belongs to YOU where friends and family are welcomed and share your special day.

Your ceremony will be conducted by the Registrar in FLETCHER, a beautiful south facing first floor Drawing Room. Other ground floor rooms can be offered for smaller gatherings or for disabled access. From May 2008 there will be a purpose built oak Orangerie in the walled gardens, overlooking our landscaped borders and lawn which will be licensed for garden view ceremonies.

We will host your seated table reception in DE MILLOM an intimate dining room, with imaginative menu choices, and a selection of wines, beers and spirits. All food is freshly prepared in-house using only the finest produce.

Or you may prefer an afternoon champagne and canapés cocktail party. What about a casino fun-night after dining or an ensemble of local musicians / singers for a cabaret evening with a difference? They have a great repertoire of well known songs to remind us that “love is in the air”!!

There is a choice of two sumptuous four poster suites for the perfect honeymoon night. Our DE ASBY suite has a hydro massage power shower & sauna and the COPELAND suite has a Jacuzzi® bath with a TileVision® colour TV en-suite. Our bed linen and fluffy white towels are the finest quality, and much admired by all our guests. Complimentary champagne will await you in your room when you retire. There is a complimentary limited edition print of Moresby Hall for each couple (only 260 produced) whilst stocks last.
